Breaking: Uniben Council Refutes News Of Prof Salami’s As The New VC

FREEPRESS – Reports reaching us from of University of Benin Council member with the sole responsibility to select the new Vice-Chancellor as the tenure of the incumbent draws to a close denied the rumours making the round on social media that Prof Lilian Salami has emerged as the new Vice Chancellor of the university.

The council member who is shy of the prints for personal reasons said there’s no truth in the fake news of the selection of Prof Salami as that will be the last on the items and agendas for the council meeting.

“Those who have been wrongly fed with the fake news of the selection of Prof Salami as the new Vice Chancellor have been advised not to fall for the unfounded rumours.

“It’s the handiwork of those who are intent on bending the hands of the council backwards to do the bidding of ethnic potentates in a federalist nation like Nigeria”, he said.

Reports reaching us directly from National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has not confirmed Prof Salami as the new Vice Chancellor, staying that she’s far removed from becoming the new Vice Chancellor from the available profiles of more qualified professors contesting for the same position.

Another source within the University of Benin campus fingers Prof Salami’s hired hack writers for spreading the fake news to stamped the council to announce her name as the new Vice-Chancellor.

As at the time of filling this report, there’s palpable tension in and around the campus with intense horse-trading among the contenders and their supporters.
