FREEPRESS – The Edo State House of Assembly in its plenary session on Wednesday declares 12 members-elect seat vacant due to non-compiance with inauguration and not meeting the yearly sitting requirements of 181-sitting days as stipulated in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A political Analyst in Edo State who does not want his name imprint, in a statement made available to *FreePress* said “Information reaching us now indicates that A group of wishful thinkers converged at the Edo State House Of Assembly @Osadebey Avenue to declare the seats of 12 Edo lawmakers elect vacant.”
“As this is unknown to Law, you may recall that these lawmakers elect were refused proper inauguration by Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, who alone, reserves the powers to inaugurate a proper house.”
“The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC must know that, contrary to the claims made by these known infidels of democracy, who illegally used the hallow chambers to execute this illegality, since the house was dissolved, there hasn’t been a “proper” house as stipulated in the constitution of the Federal Republic.”
“The Law recognizes that, a state governor should communicate to the clerk of the house, who will in turn inform all members elect through formal writing, and as well, make public to all news media, and the house must ultimately be inaugurated in working hours which is contrary to the nocturnal hours that was adopted by the state governor on the 17th of June, 2019”
“Inec and the general public is by this publication guided to disregard the declaration made by the unknown and illegal speaker Okiye” he said.
