Obaseki paying delegates from State coffers – Govt House source cries out …..”He bullied other PDP aspirants with N15bn” – PDP source

FREEPRESS – A credible source within the Central Administration of the Government House has revealed how Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has sent a long list of names to be added to the staff payroll.

The payment has been ordered by the governor to take effect from the end of
this month, while each of the names on the list will be remunerated the sum
of N350,000 per month.

This was after mainstream media reported yesterday that the governor’s
party had reached an out-of-court settlement to prevent any protracted
court cases concerning his clearance to contest in the party’s primary
election, which has repeatedly been postponed to accommodate Mr Obaseki’s

In addition, details of a N15bn settlement have emerged from Benin City
concerning how Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State managed to impose
himself on the state’s chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as a
candidate for the primary elections, even after missing the deadline set by
the party for purchase of the primary ticket.

It would be recalled that Governor Obaseki earlier this month defected to
PDP amid claims by many sources that the defection was facilitated by a
payment of N6bn to party chieftains in Abuja. Further monetary palliatives,
withdrawn from the state’s coffers, were also freely distributed by the
governor to other aspirants to cushion the effects of his bullying them out
of participation.

The recent list of phantom staff sent by the governor, it was gathered, was
to render the indirect primary election a mere formality with the delegate
list carefully orchestrated to grant the embattled governor easy emergence
as the party flagbearer of the party.

This would mean that the governor is paying the delegates for the primaries
from the state government’s payroll.
